Adventures in home buying

Well we're under our 2nd official contract. And let me tell you it's been an adventure getting there.

Our first time around we put a contract on an okay house that had a fabulous location--only a block from the lake! But during our inspection we discovered "severe" fire damage in the attic-our inspector told us to get out of the contract and get our money back. The problem with this you ask? Well our backup, or #2, house was damaged by the tornado that hit Albertville. Not good since we were trying to be under contract by April 30 to receive the tax credit.

So with 5 days left we went on the hunt again. Our realtor took us to a house that had just come on the market.

Wow, you may say, that's a big house, isn't that out of your price range? Well yes, until you see this
and this:

and learn that it's a foreclosure.

Dad2 put it well, "It's going to be a lot of WORK!" But it's going to be so worth it in the end.

We also would like to thank Dave Ramsey for teaching us the envelope system. Yes, we will be using a strict envelope system starting in July.
