For less than $10 you can feed up to 10 people.
Ingredients
1 whole chicken
2 packs of frozen dumplings (next to the bread in the freezer section, I use Mary B's)
Salt and pepper to taste
Green onions (optional)
Directions
Take a big pot add water and the whole chicken (make sure you get any "goodies" out of the chicken). Bring to a boil. The size of your chicken will determine how long it will take to cook. Add salt and pepper to taste. When your chicken is done remove from the now chicken stock and let cool. Add dumplings to the stock. After the chicken has cooled enough to handle begin tearing/cutting the chicken into bite size pieces. Add the chicken pieces back to the pot. The dumplings will take about 45 minutes to an hour to cook. Serve in bowls and enjoy!
This past time I think I bought the biggest chicken I've ever seen. Be sure to flip your chicken over and get as much of the meat as possible.
The noodles had been in about 20mins. at this point.
You'll notice that it thickened up. This is such an easy recipe and J loves it, while T usually has a grilled cheese. We really enjoy this and it is really easy.
Since I bought such a big chicken I only used half of the chicken and one package of dumplings. I put the other package of dumpling back and the freezer. The other chicken I used to make some of Mrs. K's chicken salad. It was yummy too!
Enjoy and let me know if you give this recipe a try.
Did you notice our map of America place mat? We regularly have quizzes at dinner-we also have presidents and the world place mats.

I'm adding this recipe to my book, and I'll let you know when I try it. I don't really love C&D and Lord knows Joy won't eat it, but I like to know how to make all things southern and traditional! I think the funniest thing about this whole entry are the placemats! Who KNEW you would have historical placemats in your home...LOL...never would have guess it after our history classes;) xoxo
